All Aboard Inc. works to ensure that Aotearoa’s transport plans align with Aotearoa’s emission reduction goals and commitments. We hold government bodies accountable for their decisions on transport.

Where we started.

In August 2021 we sought to judicially review decisions made by the Regional Transport Committee, Auckland Council’s Planning Committee and the Auckland Transport Board in relation to the Auckland Regional Land Transport Plan (RLTP).

We argued that the adoption of the RLTP was unlawful because it doesn’t make any material reduction to Auckland’s transport emissions.

All Aboard Inc. also filed a Judicial review against the Mill Road roading project as it plainly went against the goals clearly laid out in the Zero Carbon Act. According to the Zero Carbon Act, Auckland is meant to half its transport emissions by 2030, however, Waka Kotahi’s own analysis of Mill Road reported a 6% increase in transport emissions by 2030.

On April 29th 2021 the government announced that it was looking to cut Mill Road due to emissions concerns and budget blow out. We believe that our legal challenge was vital in pressuring the government to cut Mill Road and is a massive step towards achieving a less car dependent, carbon zero future.

The race to decarbonise Auckland’s transport was supported by the following organisations and 1000+ signatories.

This is why
All Aboard Inc.
exists!

To hold our governing bodies accountable, and work with them to ensure Aotearoa’s transport plans secure the long term wellbeing of all Kiwis and our environment.
