6. Every day actions
Our everyday actions and choices make a huge difference in the future of our planet and our people. Here are just a few actions you can easily do:
-
Before you get behind the wheel, look at the other options that support you to get from point A to point B in a safe and eco-friendly way; bus, train, rideshare, bike, carpool, scooter, walk, skateboard, cartwheel – it doesn’t matter how you do it, but if you’re physically able, avoiding car trips (especially short ones) can make the world of difference to our emissions.
-
Show your support for projects that benefit walking and cycling, such as safe bike lanes, pedestrian-friendly streets, connectivity to our environment, and safe crossing points. You can also show your support for fixing and growing our transport system.
-
Consider the transport policies of those you vote for. Are they widening roads, building new roads, perpetuating car dependency and providing an insincere narrative towards reducing emissions, or are they investing in infrastructure to support safe, efficient and sustainable modes? Speak out to your local board and councillors about the healthy transport focused neighbourhood improvements you want.
-
Petitions circulating are a quick call for action to get onboard a sustainable, safe, accessible and affordable transport system! The best way to stay up to date with relevant transport petitions is by following us on social media and signing up to our newsletter.
