Meet the All Aboard Action Alliance Members: The Beautification Trust

Caring for people and the planet go hand-in-hand. That’s the kaupapa behind The Beautification Trust, one of our valued All Aboard Action Alliance members, who are creating cleaner, stronger, and more connected communities in South and East Auckland — and beyond.

Who is The Beautification Trust?

Based in Manurewa, The Beautification Trust is a community-powered organisation on a mission to connect and empower people to look after the environment and each other. Their mahi spans education, volunteering, waste minimisation, urban clean-ups, local art projects, and environmental regeneration,  all grounded in the belief that everyone has a role to play in shaping a better future.

At the heart of their work is a commitment to manaakitanga (care and respect) and kaitiakitanga (guardianship of the environment). By making sustainability accessible, creative, and community-driven, The Beautification Trust is transforming public spaces and the lives of the people who use them.

Why Local Action Matters

Transport, climate, and community wellbeing are deeply connected — and The Beautification Trust understands that systemic change begins at the street level. Through initiatives like Eye on Nature, Zero Waste events, and community clean-ups, they’re not only reducing pollution and improving public spaces, but also supporting healthier, more connected neighbourhoods where walking, cycling, and public transport become safer and more appealing choices.

They also run an impressive WasteWise programme, engaging thousands of school students and community members every year in the art and science of waste reduction — helping grow a generation that sees the link between environmental care, social equity, and climate resilience.

Community Power in Action

Earlier this month, we were lucky to co-host the Every Step Counts workshop with The Beautification Trust and Bike Auckland. Held at their HQ, this hands-on session brought together local advocates working to create safer, more walkable streets. It was a powerful reminder that when community, creativity, and care come together, real change happens.

Whether it’s supporting local rangatahi, transforming neglected spaces into vibrant murals, or empowering residents to take climate action in their own backyards, The Beautification Trust is walking the talk. Their model of local empowerment for global impact is something we’re proud to champion through the All Aboard Action Alliance.

A Shared Vision

At All Aboard, we believe that a zero-carbon transport future is only possible when we invest in people and places. The Beautification Trust brings deep experience, connection, and aroha to this kaupapa, showing that when we care for our whenua and each other, we can build a safer, fairer, more sustainable Aotearoa.

We’re proud to stand alongside them in the Action Alliance, and excited to see where this shared journey takes us.
