Better Moves launches 30 September 2026

We’ve spent the past year developing Better Moves as Aotearoa’s first national-scale vision for a better transport future. It brings together rigorous evidence, lived experience and robust financial analysis of the path ahead. We’re now moving into the next phase — building the social momentum needed to turn that vision into meaningful change.

Better Moves addresses how entrenched transport thinking is failing both people and the planet, how we can fix it, and why it makes good economic sense to do so.

Now is the time for transformation.

For generations, we've built our transport system to move vehicles faster and further. It connected our communities and powered our economy — but the system built for yesterday isn't the one we need for tomorrow.

Right now, it's contributing to challenges we can't ignore: rising costs, pressure on our cities and towns, pollution and health impacts, and unequal access to opportunity.

Transport isn't a problem to be solved. It's one of our greatest opportunities to build the future we want — and it won't happen by accident. It will be shaped by the people who step up to be part of the conversation.

We're bringing people together to explore what that future could look like.
